PRAYER-CARE-SHARE

It takes a city-wide church to reach an entire city. 

Cedar Rapids, Iowa has always been blessed with an abundance of churches and church leaders who have a heart for unity within our city. In the past, we've experienced many blessings, (city-wide pastor's prayer summits, Convoy of Hope, etc.) when God has used His church to bless our city. Indeed, in His heart, there is only ONE church in Linn County. ONE CHURCH, under Jesus, with many members.

In 2006, God started pouring out a whole new level of city-wide cooperation amongst churches and church leaders here in the greater Cedar Rapids area. This concentrated effort will focus on "building bridges in Linn County", reaching every man, woman & child in Linn County with the Good News message & ministry of Jesus Christ. Working along side Mission America (a national coalition of hundreds of Christian organizations & ministries) and Serve the City (our local organizational partner of Mission America), pastors & leaders here in the greater Cedar Rapids area are kicking-off a three-year commitment of time, energy, and resources to a city-wide evangelistic effort called... 'PRAYER, CARE, SHARE...Building Bridges in Linn County'. 

Actually Cedar Rapids is honored to be a Mission America pilot community where the Mission America Loving Our Communities to Christ (LC2C) program is being tested and developed for use in cities around the USA!

IN 2006...PRAYER-CARE-SHARE BOOKMARKS & PRAYER WALLS. Our foundation in all this is, of course, Jesus Christ and His redeeming work at the Cross. Together, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we believe that God's Word is very clear. Every Christian is called by God to be a light in the world, and the church of Jesus Christ is called to build bridges to our community... relationships that truly matter, with hearts that truly care for all those who would be found unprepared if Jesus returned to earth today. We think you'll be excited to join with literally thousands of other Christians throughout our city, as brothers and sisters in Christ embark upon our on-going concentrated P-C-S BOOKMARK and PRAYER BOARD effort to:

1) PRAY diligently for those in our circle of influence who need Jesus;
2) seek creative & practical ways to show our loving CARE to them;
3) look for God-directed opportunities to SHARE Christ with them.

OPERATION: SERVE THE CITY   SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2007
A practical ONE DAY demonstration of Jesus' love for the people of Greater
Cedar Rapids. Drawing together laborers from our 30-plus 'Serve the City'
churches for one day of compassionate outreach in Jesus' name.

Matthew  9:36  When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because
they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

We are looking right now at grouping participating churches & ministries
into a minimum of 5 CARE-FEST CLUSTERS assigned to a geographic part of Linn
County. For example, volunteers from a cluster of churches located in the SW side of
CR will join together to coordinate a ONE-DAY service-oriented work project
on October 20, 2007 located in the SW quadrant of the city. While Serve the
City can suggest possible service project ideas, it will be up to each
cluster of churches to determine the most productive project for their
region. It might be a school-related project, a food & clothing give-away
event, a neighborhood cleanup project, etc...but at the end of the day, our
community will have at least 5 service projects completed, all under the
name of JESUS, and His 30-plus "Serve the City" congregations.

Look who's on board?  Presently we have 33 churches & ministries from the greater Cedar Rapids area involved with PCS (representing over 10,000 Christians!) and more joining as the word gets out about what God is doing!
