Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. This food program began with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens) in 1994, and has grown to serve 1.6 million families in 2005 across 32 states. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and is presently working with several congregations here in Cedar Rapids. Angel Food Ministries, like most all other retail grocery stores, also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system. Visit www.angelfoodministries.com

Saturdays, May through October @ 'The House'

We take the PRAYER-CARE-SHARE effort to the next level by offering our summer of six CARE-FEST events @ The House. Come join us as we share the compassionate love of Jesus through simple acts of kindness. CARE-FEST is a mini-Convey of Hope, offering our guests budget-stretching food items (through Angel Food Ministries), free coffee & coke, free prayer, and a growing list of compassion ministries geared to bless our city with the love of Jesus! As we go into Summer 2006, we are distributing nearly 50 Angel Food Ministries boxes to our guests each month. With CARE-FEST we expect that distribution to easily triple in size as the word gets out about this blessing of healthy foods at a low cost. Our goal as a church family is to find creative ways to demonstrate the love of Jesus through our simple acts of kindness shown to our Angel Food guests. We will begin by simply offering three basic services to our Angel Food guests.

1. FREE Coffee & Coke Booth (a crowd-favorite...who can say no to a free COKE?)  Setup @ 9:30 AM, 10 AM -Noon Serving Guests

2. FREE Helpful Hands Booth  (loading up our guests' cars with Angel Food orders!)  Setup @ 9:30 AM, 10 AM-Noon Serving Guests

3. FREE Smiles & Prayer Booth  (Got a need? FREE prayer! No charge!)  Setup @ 9:30 AM, 10 AM-Noon Serving Guests

In the future, we will want to add other ministry outreaches such as: MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT. Blessing our Angel Food guests! CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES. Blessing our Angel Food guests’ kids! PRACTICAL AIDS. Free or reduced-priced haircuts, medical & dental assistance, job fairs, career counseling, and more!
