GIVING TO GOD FAITH IN ACTION
GIVING GENEROUSLY TO GOD IS A VITAL COMPONENT IN OUR DISCIPLESHIP NETWORK.
At the Vineyard, we believe that when we finally
come to the cross-roads in life where we make our confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are
actually embarking on a life-long, God-directed journey of
making
that same confession a lived-out reality in every aspect
of our lives.
As James wrote in his letter to early followers of Jesus,
"What good is it, my
brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can
such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without
clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish
you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his
physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by
itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
James 2: 14-17
We've found over the years that one of the most
difficult "actions" associated with true Christian "faith" in
America is opening up our wallets and giving God full access to
our money. While indeed we believe there are leaders in the
American church who have done a great dis-service to God's
Kingdom by constantly harping for more and more money to fund
this or that new program or ministry, the Bible actually does
talk a lot about money.
In truth, Jesus talks more about money throughout
the Gospels than some people realize. We truly believe God has
some wonderful truths to teach us about becoming good stewards
of our time, energy & resources and as leaders of this church,
we offer this web page as a resource for some of that wisdom.
This teaching was given in
1995 at the Airport Vineyard Church of Toronto, Canada. We
believe Jack's teaching is one of the best scriptural overviews
on the subject of giving we've ever heard. ENJOY!
